Getting started

How do I make my first clip?

Paste the video link, wait for the clips to be ready, pick the best ones and download or post them.

Updated October 11, 2026

In short: paste the video link in the clipping area and confirm. Wait for the clips to be ready. Then pick the best ones, adjust if you want, and download or post them.

Your part takes a few minutes. The rest is just waiting.

1. Send the video

  1. Open the clipping area.
  2. Paste the video link or upload a file from your computer.
  3. Check how many credits the video will use.
  4. Confirm.

It can be a recorded stream, a podcast, a lesson or an interview. Any long video with people talking works. Not sure? See which videos are accepted.

The price depends on the length of the video. It doesn't depend on how many clips come out.

2. Wait for it to finish

CutPro downloads the video, understands what was said and puts the clips together. This takes a while.

You can close the page. The work keeps going anyway. When it's done, the clips show up on that video's page.

If something goes wrong along the way, the credits go back to your balance on their own.

3. Pick the best clips

  1. Watch the clips.
  2. Keep the ones you like.
  3. Delete the rest. Throwing some away is normal.

You can select several clips at once. That way you delete, download or apply a template to all of them together.

Mind the deadline: clips are kept for 7 days on the free plan, 30 days on paid plans. After that, you have to clip again, and that spends credits again. Download anything you want to keep.

4. Adjust in the editor (optional)

  1. Open a clip in the editor.
  2. Fix what you need: the subtitle text, the style, the framing, the start and the end.

Already have a look you like? Apply a template and the clip comes out in your style.

5. Download or post

  1. Click to export.
  2. Follow the progress on the Renders page.
  3. Download when it's done.

The clip isn't ready the moment you click. It takes a little while to be put together.
