How credits work
1 credit = 1 minute of video, rounded up. You only pay for the part you chose to clip.
Updated October 11, 2026In short: 1 credit = 1 minute of video, always rounded up. A 12 minute 30 second section uses 13 credits. If something fails on our side, your credits come back on their own.
How much you spend
You pay for the part you chose to clip, not the whole video.
Example: you send a 4-hour stream and pick only 40 minutes. You pay for 40 minutes.
So picking only the part you want is the easiest way to spend less.
What uses credits:
- Making the clips: 1 credit per minute.
- Translating the subtitles: plus 0.8 credit per minute.
- Only transcribing the video: 1 credit per minute.
- Showing who is speaking in the transcript: plus 0.5 credit per minute.
Exporting and downloading a clip is free. You pay once, when the clips are made. After that you can export the same clip as many times as you want.
Who uses the credits
Credits belong to the workspace (the space of your account or your team), not to a person.
If you work with a team, everyone on it spends from the same balance. Your personal workspace balance is separate from the team's.
When credits expire
- Plan credits expire. How long they last depends on the plan.
- On the annual plan, the whole year's credits arrive at once and last 365 days.
- Extra credits you buy never expire.
CutPro always spends first the credits that expire first. That way you don't lose balance.
To see your balance and when each part expires, open the credits area of the studio.
When credits come back
Credits come back on their own and in full when the problem was ours:
- The clipping never started.
- The video was processed, but no clips came out.
- The clipping stopped halfway.
These also come back:
- The translation credits, if no translated subtitles came out.
- The transcription credits, if the video had no speech.
Bad clip: mark the clip as bad. If our review agrees it was badly cut, part of the credits come back. The limit is 20% of the cost of that job and 20% of your plan's credits per month.
Doesn't come back: if everything worked and you just wanted different clips. Making them again uses credits again.
When credits are taken back
If a payment is refunded or disputed, the credits from that payment are removed in the same proportion.
Your balance never goes below zero. Only what is there gets removed.
Changing plans with part of the money refunded also removes credits in the same proportion.
I ran out of credits
Without credits, new clips don't start.
When following a live stream, it pauses and shows how many credits are missing.
